Priority booking introduced at Cardiff

Any spectator who purchases a ticket for this summer's first Test between England and Sri Lanka in Cardiff will have priority booking rights for Test matches at the SWALEC Stadium in 2012 and/or 2013

Glamorgan have announced new plans to reward fans who regularly attend international matches in Cardiff.

While initial priority will continue to be given to Glamorgan members, priority booking rights - in advance of tickets being placed on general sale - will also now be given to those who have attended an international match played at the SWALEC Stadium in the preceding two years.

Priority rights will apply for the same match format attended by the spectator. As such:

Anyone who purchases a ticket for this summer's first npower Test match between England and Sri Lanka, starting on May 26, will now have priority booking rights to purchase a ticket for any Tests played in Cardiff in either 2012 and/or 2013.

Similarly, anyone who purchases a ticket for the England versus India NatWest Series ODI on September 16 will now have priority booking rights to purchase a ticket for any other one-day or Twenty20 international played in Cardiff in either 2012 and/or 2013.

Glamorgan chief executive Alan Hamer said: “During the next five years, the SWALEC Stadium will stage a minimum of three Test matches, five one-day internationals and a T20 international. In a few months’ time, we will know which further international matches we’ve been allocated between now and 2016 - this may include an Ashes Test match in either 2013 and/or 2015.

“Over recent years, the SWALEC Stadium has welcomed cricket fans from across the UK and, with one eye on the future, we are keen to reward those that attend international cricket on a regular basis.

“Our new priority booking arrangements ensure that those who attend international matches at the SWALEC Stadium are now provided with an opportunity to purchase the best tickets before they go on public sale.

“This becomes particularly important in the years in which either Australia or India visit the UK, when the demand for tickets reaches unprecedented levels.”

Tickets for the first npower Test match between England and Sri Lanka are now on sale, with adult tickets starting from just £25 and junior tickets priced at £10. Tickets can be purchased online at www.glamorgancricket.com or by calling 02920 419311.

Glamorgan have also confirmed children aged 16 and under will be able to gain free entry to all domestic matches at the SWALEC Stadium throughout the 2011 season.

The Welsh county, who host Gloucestershire in Division Two of the LV= County Championship from Thursday to Sunday this week, are keen to attract as many young fans as possible to their home games and a family of four will be able to enjoy a day’s play from just £20.

All supporters will have the opportunity to hone their own cricket skills on the pitch during the lunch and tea breaks, while many of the club’s Friends Life t20 matches will also feature live music, fancy dress and food promotions.

Glamorgan’s first Clydesdale Bank 40 fixture, against Essex, takes place on Friday May 6 and starts at 4:40pm.

The club then begin their Twenty20 campaign with a match against Middlesex on Friday 3 June, starting at 7:30pm.
