Mott stays with Glamorgan
Matthew Mott will stay on as Glamorgan's head of elite performance despite holding talks to replace John Wright as New Zealand's coach.
Mott was given permission to discuss the role, that will be vacated by Wright next month, with Cricket New Zealand earlier this week.
But it has now emerged he will not be joining the Black Caps, who have subsequently appointed Mike Hesson.
Mott said: “I'm grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity to speak to Cricket New Zealand.
“Like all ambitious coaches, I have aspirations to work at the highest level. That said, I am 100% committed to Glamorgan - I recognise that there is a great deal of hard work to do, but I remain focussed on improving the team's performances and on bringing success back to the club.”
Glamorgan chief executive Alan Hamer added: “Although we gave Matthew our consent to speak to Cricket New Zealand, we publicly stated that we did not want to lose him.
“We are therefore pleased to confirm that Matthew will be continuing in his role as the club's head of elite performance and we can now focus on the remainder of the current season and our plans for next year.”
