Glamorgan have confirmed that Australian batsman Marcus North has returned to his homeland to prepare for the new domestic season Down Under.

With the campaign starting early due to the 2012 Champions League Twenty20 in South Africa, the 33-year-old, whose Glamorgan career was delayed by a month due to the birth of his second child, has been given the go-ahead to leave Wales and start preparations as captain of Western Australia.

He will arrive back at the SWALEC Stadium as overseas player next term to see out the remaining 12 months of a two-year deal he signed in August last year.

Meanwhile, Glamorgan are set to offer Andrew Salter, who could make his LV= County Championship debut against Yorkshire tomorrow, a professional contract for the 2013 campaign.
