Petersen rules out Glamorgan return

Glamorgan have given up on re-signing 2011 captain Alviro Petersen as a Kolpak player.
Although Petersen represented Glamorgan as an overseas player last year, he signed an agreement to retire from the international game and return to the county as a Kolpak, providing the ECB granted him clearance.
This would have allowed him to play alongside Australia batsman Marcus North, who will be Glamorgan’s overseas player for the next two seasons, under the captaincy of Mark Wallace in all competitions.
However, when the opening batsman’s fine domestic form in South Africa led to a recall to their Test squad in early December, Petersen decided to continue his international career.
The 31-year-old played for South Africa for the first time in 12 months during last week’s 10-wicket Test win over Sri Lanka at Cape Town, scoring 109 in the first innings.
He informed Glamorgan earlier this week that he had changed his mind about returning to them and asked to be released from his commitment. The club agreed and are reassessing their options for the final make-up of their 2012 squad.
In 2011 Petersen scored 1,069 runs at 42.76 in the LV= County Championship, 547 at 54.7 in the Clydesdale Bank 40 and 423 at 32.53 in the Friends Life t20.
