Salter signs on at the SWALEC
Teenage all-rounder Andrew Salter has signed his first professional contract with Glamorgan.
The 19-year-old recently broke into the club’s Clydesdale Bank 40 team and made a positive impression with his off-spin bowling in games against Durham and Nottinghamshire.
Glamorgan’s head of elite performance, Matthew Mott, said: “Andrew trained with us in pre-season and did well, so it’s been no surprise that when he has had opportunities in one-day cricket this season he has bowled well.
“He particularly impressed in the high-scoring game against Nottinghamshire, when they were building a solid total. He bowled in the powerplay and stemmed the flow of runs, taking two wickets in two balls.
“With his undoubted talent and mental toughness we believe Andrew will have a big part to play next year and in the future.”
Salter added: “I am delighted to sign a contract with Glamorgan. It’s been great to have an opportunity towards the end of this season to play and I’m pleased to get the chance to show the coaches what I can do next year as well.”
