Gloucestershire have snapped up former England off-spinner Richard Dawson on a two-year deal.
The former Test and Yorkshire player made his debut for Gloucestershire a fortnight ago against Glamorgan and has impressed sufficiently to earn a contract for the 2009/10 seasons.
The 28-year-old, who featured in seven Tests against India and Australia back in 2001, was released from Yorkshire in 2006 and a year later suffered the same fate after a season at Northamptonshire.
Dawson said “I am really excited about the following two seasons at Gloucestershire and I am looking forward to working with such a strong squad.”
Jack Russell, Gloucestershire team mentor, said: “The players and support staff are absolutely delighted that Richard has joined us full time.
“Not only is he a high quality cricketer, but is a quality person who fits the required attitude to help take this team forward."
