Young bolsters Gloucestershire ranks
Gloucestershire have signed all-rounder Ed Young on a two-year development contract.
The 21-year-old is currently studying at Oxford Brookes University and plays for Oxford MCCU.
He also represented the Unicorns in the Clydesdale Bank 40 and impressed for Gloucestershire Second XI this week, taking 11 wickets against MCC Young Cricketers.
Young said: “This is what I have been working towards for a long time. It is good to get a reward for all my hard work at university.
“I am now looking forward to the next stage of my career and hope to progress to be a successful professional cricketer and a regular member of the first XI.
“I am really grateful to Graham Charlesworth, my coach at Oxford, for all of his support and for putting me in touch with GCCC coach Stuart Barnes and in doing so made this opportunity happen.”
Young has been named in Gloucestershire’s 13-man squad to play Middlesex in the CB40 tomorrow.
