Gidman returns to Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire have completed the signing of Durham all-rounder Will Gidman on a two-year contract.
Gidman, the younger brother of Gloucestershire skipper Alex, returns to Bristol following four seasons at Durham.
The 25-year-old made just one first-class appearance during his time in the north-east - a three-day game against Sri Lanka A in 2007 - but featured regularly in Durham’s one-day side last season.
Gidman also played in two Clydesdale Bank 40 matches this summer before an ankle injury hampered his progress.
In total, he has played in 18 List A games, taking 19 wickets at an average of 22.
“I have absolutely loved my time at Durham, but at 25 I need to focus on where I’m going to get the best cricketing opportunities to develop my game,” he said.
“I’m keen to push on to try to ensure regular first-class appearances and hopefully I’ll be able to significantly contribute to the side at Gloucestershire.”
Durham head coach Geoff Cook added: “Will has been an enthusiastic and committed member of our team, but due to the depth of the squad there hasn’t been the opportunity for him to break into our four-day side.
"I hope his move to Gloucestershire gives him the chance to demonstrate his undoubted skill.”
