Gloucestershire lay turf
There was finally light at the end of the tunnel for Gloucestershire this morning, as the first sections of the County Ground’s outfield were laid.
Contractors have been working ‘like badgers’ on the ground over recent months, in order to get the club’s new drainage system ready in time for the new season.
The first section of turf, which has been especially grown for the ground was laid at 9:30am and will be a welcome boost for everybody involved with the project.

The turf has been grown especially for the County Ground in Bristol, but the project has been delayed
It brings down the curtain on a frustrating couple of weeks for the club, as the project has been delayed several times recently due to bad weather throughout the UK.
The club’s group operations manager Peter Hall was obviously delighted with the news.
He said “It’s been a while coming but it’s really good news that we are now reaching the end of this phase of the drainage works. Everything is on track for the start of the season.”
The ground has already been fully prepared in order to allow the turf to root quickly. This combined with the fact that the turf will only take eight days to lay, means that the ground will be ready for the new season.
