Gloucs lose loan signings
Gloucestershire have confirmed the departures of on-loan seamers AJ Harris and David Wigley.
Harris’ spell has been cut short by a side strain, and he will return to Nottinghamshire having played three Twenty20 Cup matches and an LV County Championship game for Gloucestershire.
Wigley managed a solitary championship encounter for his temporary employers before being recalled for Northamptonshire’s four-day clash with Worcestershire at New Road, which starts tomorrow.
“It is really disappointing to lose both these players,” said Gloucestershire chief executive Tom Richardson. “We found them because we felt that our bowling needed bolstering up.
“It is clearly not the result we were seeking and on this occasion we failed. However, the principle of signing players on loan remains a good one and we will continue to look again to find suitable reinforcements for part, or the whole, of the remaining season.”
Captain Jon Lewis added: “Whilst it is disappointing to lose these bowlers, it does again give opportunity to those players in our own squad to stand up and be counted.”
