Ireland international William Porterfield has signed a two-year contract extension with Gloucestershire following a relatively successful first full season with the club.
The 24-year-old, who was part of the Ireland side that reached the Super Eight stage of the 2007 World Cup, signed for the county a year ago after a trial.
Porterfield was a regular member of Gloucestershire’s LV County Championship outfit and struck seven fifties this season.
He said: “I am really pleased to be offered an extra two years at Gloucestershire. I am looking forward to building on what has been a good first season for me.
“This is where my future lies and I hope the next two years will be successful for both me and the club.”
Team strategist Jack Russell added: “Will has proved himself as a top cricketer and will be a huge asset to the club. He is a great lad and well respected in the dressing room.
"He is the type of person you’d want next to you in the trenches. The players and coaching staff are delighted he has extended his contract with the club.”
