Hampshire add Maxwell
Hampshire have registered Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for this year’s Friends Life t20.
The 23-year-old, a right-handed batsman and off-spinner, arrived in the country at the end of April and has been playing for Hampshire’s second XI and local club side South Wilts.
Fresh from representing Delhi Daredevils in the recent Indian Premier League, Maxwell will be another overseas player at Giles White’s disposal following the captures of compatriot Simon Katich and Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi.

Glenn Maxwell represented Delhi Daredevils in this year's IPL and has now been signed by Hampshire for the Friends Life t20
Maxwell, who currently holds the record for the fastest List A 50 - off just 19 balls - in Australian domestic cricket, said: “I’m extremely pleased. I like to say I’m an entertaining cricketer in all facets of the game, as a fielder, bowler and batsman. So I like to try to entertain the crowds and keep the game pretty interesting.
“When I came over here and a few things didn’t work out with my passport I thought it was going to be a long time playing second XI cricket as an overseas player so this has worked out really well for me and hopefully I can help Hampshire win a few games.
“I’ve seen a few of the crowds for the Twenty20s and they’ve been really good. So I’m looking forward to seeing this thing (the Ageas Bowl) packed out and hopefully getting a few runs in front of a big crowd.”
