Roberts and Sheppard added to Hampshire flock
Second XI graduates Michael Roberts and Jack Sheppard will form part of Hampshire’s first-team squad in 2013.
Roberts, who struck 619 runs in seven Second XI Championship matches in 2012, has been awarded a full one-year deal, while seamer Sheppard joins Adam Rouse and Sean Terry on a development contract.
Hampshire manager Giles White said: “We are delighted that both Michael and Jack will be a part of the set-up from 2013. Both have worked extremely hard in the second XI this season and shown the attributes required to potentially be first-class cricketers.
“Jack has been with Hampshire since under-13 level so he knows the set-up at the Ageas Bowl very well. Michael, meanwhile, absolutely deserves his full contract having earned it the hard way through playing Minor Counties cricket for Berkshire and earning an opportunity to play List A cricket for the Unicorns in the Clydesdale Bank 40 competition.
“I'm sure both will continue their hard work and I hope we'll see them representing the club in the coming years.”
