Hampshire go back to Basingstoke
Hampshire are set to return to Basingstoke’s Mays Bounty ground when they take on Durham in the LV County Championship, starting on August 27.
This will be the first time that Hampshire first XI cricket has been played at the ground since 2000 and everyone at Hampshire and Basingstoke is looking forward to the return.
Hampshire director of cricket Tim Tremlett said: “Hampshire’s association with Basingstoke goes back many years.
"The team’s track record, allied to the tremendous support that they have always received from the local community bodes well for this renewed partnership.”
Basingstoke chairman Steve Rayner added: “The news that Hampshire had agreed to return to Mays Bounty was excellent for Basingstoke and cricket lovers in the area.
"It reinstates Mays Bounty as a county ground and I am sure that the town and its business community in particular will get right behind this historic event and make it a huge success for the Basingstoke and for cricket in the North of Hampshire.”
