England Under-19 all-rounder Liam Dawson has committed his future to Hampshire by signing a three-year contract at the Rose Bowl.
The 18-year-old left-arm spinner and middle-order batsman has played in four Under-19 Tests and 18 ODIs as well as breaking into Hampshire's senior side this season.
He played a major role with bat and ball in Hampshire’s return to form in the second half of this campaign, including two man-of-the-match awards in the NatWest Pro40.
Earlier this month, Dawson was nominated alongside Nottinghamshire seamer Stuart Broad, Essex all-rounder Ravi Bopara and Kent opener Joe Denly for the prestigious Young Cricketer of the Year award.
Acting Hampshire team manager Giles White said: “The long-term deal that Liam has been offered reflects how highly he is regarded.
“We see him playing a big part in Hampshire Cricket’s future. I can’t think of a more exciting young prospect in the country.”
Dawson added: “I’m delighted to have signed a new three-year contract with Hampshire. The club has shown a lot of faith in me and I hope to repay with good performances.”
