Tomlinson prolongs Hampshire stay

Seamer James Tomlinson has committed his future to Hampshire by signing a contract extension until the end of the 2013 season
James Tomlinson has signed a contract extension at Hampshire, tying him to the county until the end of the 2013 season.
The seamer, who will celebrate his 10th season at the Rose Bowl in 2012, has taken 203 wickets at an average of 35.09 in 69 first-class matches and in 25 List A appearances has snared 28 victims at 30.85.
Despite missing some of last campaign through injury, Tomlinson follows fellow seamer David Balcombe in commiting his future to Hampshire as they attempt to win promotion back to LV= County Championship Division One at the first attempt.
Tomlinson said: “I’m absolutely over the moon. I’m really looking forward to the next couple of years and doing my bit for the team, hopefully through a successful period.
“We’re working in the nets, already, on different things and I’m looking to add things to my game.
“I’m just looking forward to bowling with all the really good young, talented bowlers that we’ve got and I think if we work on our plans and we stick together we’ll be absolutely fine.”
Hampshire first team coach Giles White added: “We are delighted that James has extended his contract as he continues to be a vital part of the club.
“He has the ability to swing the ball both ways, is a terrific influence on the team and his experience and quality will play a big part over the next few years.”
