Lancashire left-arm spinner Gary Keedy will miss the start of the new season with a fractured right collarbone.

Keedy fell awkwardly yesterday as he attempted to cut off a boundary during a two-day friendly with Durham at Old Trafford.

The 35-year-old will undergo surgery over the next 48 hours, allowing the club to form a prognosis of how long he with be out for.

Lancashire are not involved in the first round of LV= County Championship matches, which start today. Their first competitive game is at home to Warwickshire in the championship, beginning on Thursday.
