Sajid Mahmood has been released by Lancashire to end a 10-year association with the county.

The 30-year-old fast bowler, who earned eight Test caps and featured in 30 limited-overs games for England, was shipped out on loan to Somerset for the second half of the 2012 season.

Mahmood made the last of his five-day appearances in the 2006-07 Ashes whitewash, but remained involved with the one-day set-up until 2009.

His 323 first-class wickets have come at an average of 32, yet there were only 11 in this season’s LV= County Championship - three in four games for Lancashire and eight in three during his time in Taunton.

Lancashire cricket director Mike Watkinson said: "We would like to thank Saj for his contribution to the club over the last 10 years and we wish him well for the future."
