Prince solves Lancashire's dilemma

Lancashire hope Ashwell Prince will be able to replicate the success he had in the championship at number three last year
South Africa batsman Ashwell Prince has signed for Lancashire as their interim 2010 overseas player.
The 32-year-old left-hander will play for the county until the arrival of Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara following his international commitments.
Prince covered for VVS Laxman for seven weeks at the start of the 2009 season, averaging 52.60 in six first-class matches at number three.
Prince, who is set to feature for South Africa in the fourth and final Test against England starting in Johannesburg on Thursday, said: “When Lancashire asked me if I would be interested in returning this season, I didn’t hesitate in saying yes.
“It’s a great club, with excellent facilities and I really enjoyed the camaraderie of the dressing room and the warm reception I received from the supporters.”
Lancashire cricket director Mike Watkinson said: “We are fortunate that a world-class batsman like Ashwell is available for the start of the season.
“During his short stay with us last year, he delivered the goods with some outstanding performances and I know he is determined to pick up where he left off.
“April and May is jam-packed with championship cricket and it is important we get off to the strongest start possible if we hope to achieve our goals.”
Sangakkara is expected to be with Sri Lanka until at least May 16, the date of the ICC World Twenty20 final, and could be unavailable for longer if the dates for the proposed Asia Cup are finalised.
