Smith suffers second setback
Lancashire’s Tom Smith is expected to spend at least a further month on the sidelines after suffering a recurrence of his hamstring injury.
The reliable all-rounder only returned to the reigning LV= County Champions’ team for this week’s match against Nottinghamshire after missing their first three games.
However, after being forced to leave the field on day one, Smith is now facing another lay-off.
Lancashire head coach Peter Moores told the club’s official website: “Tom will bat in the second innings, but won’t be able to bowl and it looks like he will be out for at least a month after this game.”
Smith, a left-handed batsman and right-arm seamer, featured frequently for the Red Rose last summer as they ended their long wait for a championship crown.
