Sutton bids Lancashire farewell

Luke Sutton paid special tribute to coach Peter Moores on the day he revealed he is leaving Old Trafford "for pastures new"
Wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Sutton has announced he is leaving Lancashire after five seasons.
The 33-year-old confirmed his departure from Old Trafford in the wake of the LV= County Championship defeat by Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge yesterday.
“I’ve had five really enjoyable seasons with Lancashire and I feel proud and privileged to have represented such a prestigious club,” said Sutton.
“I’d like to thank everybody for their support, in particular Peter Moores, who is an exceptional coach.
”I will leave with fond memories from my time at Old Trafford and I would like to wish everybody connected with Lancashire the best of luck for the future.”
Lancashire director of cricket Mike Watkinson added: “Luke was in the final year of his contract and has decided to move on to pastures new.
“He has given tremendous service to the club, doing an excellent job both on and off the field.
“He is a massive character in the dressing room and his professionalism is a great example for those around him. He leaves Lancashire with our best wishes for his next challenge.”
Sutton averaged 33.11 with the bat and took 227 catches and 15 stumpings for Lancashire after joining from Derbyshire in 2006, having begun his career at his native Somerset.
He has been an ever-present in Lancashire’s four-day side this summer, but has been increasingly overlooked in one-day cricket in favour of Gareth Cross, who is expected to become first-choice wicketkeeper following Sutton's departure.
