Red Rose snap up Tahir
County champions Lancashire have moved to sign former Warwickshire bowler Naqaash Tahir on a one-year contract.
The 28-year-old seamer left his home county at the end of last season and the Red Rose have opted to hand him a place in their squad for the forthcoming campaign.
“We are delighted to secure Naqaash for the coming season,” said head coach Peter Moores. “He is a very talented swing bowler who will provide the necessary depth to an already-strong seam attack, which is essential for the demands of a first-class county season.”
Tahir took 139 wickets in 56 first-class matches during an injury-hit decade with Warwickshire and Lancashire director of cricket Mike Watkinson hopes he is due for a change of luck.
“Naqaash is an experienced bowler who has been unfortunate with injuries during his time at Warwickshire,” he said. “He joins us with a point to prove and a desire to play cricket at the highest level.”
Lancashire begin the defence of their title against Sussex on April 12.
