Leicestershire unveil development plans
Leicestershire are drawing up plans to build around 15 apartments at Grace Road following the ECB’s decision to make up to £1million of loan finance available to each county.
The ECB board last week announced they will invest in each of the 18 first-class clubs upon approval of detailed business plans.
Leicestershire’s loan facility has been confirmed and they now intend to develop a disused corner of their ground alongside Milligan Road.
The club’s chief executive, Mike Siddall, said: “These will be high-quality apartments for let, with the income used to help sustain the club’s finances.
“Plans are being drawn up at the moment and will be shared with club members at meetings at Grace Road on February 21 and 25, and with local residents on February 23.
“This investment is part of a wider programme of transformation for the county game which will include the introduction of a new domestic playing schedule from 2014.
“The increased investment will help us plan for the future with greater confidence and implement a programme of change which will help make our domestic game even more attractive to spectators, broadcasters and sponsors alike.”
