Thakor handed new Foxes contract
Leicestershire have rewarded Shiv Thakor’s remarkable start to his county career with a new two-year deal at Grace Road.
The 18-year-old topped the Leicestershire batting averages in both the LV=County Championship and Clydesdale Bank 40 last season, scoring 427 first-class runs at an average of 61 and chipping in with four wickets at a shade under 40.

Shiv Thakor has averaged 33 with the ball and 52 with the bat so far in his fledgling Leicestershire first-class career
He also averaged 55 in List A cricket after two half-centuries in four innings, and his medium pace provides a useful option in the field.
Leicestershire chief executive Mike Siddall said: "We are delighted that Shiv has signed a two-year contract.
“We are developing an exciting, talented group of young players, many of whom - like Shiv - have come through our academy system."
Thakor, whose only first-class century to date came on debut against Loughborough UCCE, is the latest player to sign a new two-year deal in the last few weeks, following in the footsteps of Matthew Boyce, Rob Taylor, Michael Thornely and James Sykes.
Angus Robson, Tom Wells and Ollie Freckingham have also agreed deals for the 2013 season.
