Middlesex have annouced proposals to streamline its committee by two thirds.
The county’s current committee consists of 18 members but this will be reduced to six if approved at the next AGM in the new year.
The proposal, announced at a supporters’ consultation evening this week, would bring Middlesex’s committee in line with others like LV County Champions Durham.
Middlesex chairman Ian Lovett outlined the new governing structure, including newly-appointed managing director of cricket Angus Fraser and an executive board of 13 who would run everything and meet at least once a month.
The board would consist of six elected members with two to be elected every three years: chairman, treasurer, chief executive, managing director of cricket, chairman of the Middlesex Cricket Board and two co-opted members to ensure that the balance of skills was right.
The membership committee would remain and the majority of the executive board would still be voted on by the members - as has been the case for 40 years.
Chief executive Vinny Codrington said a smaller board would be able to make decisions more easily. Presently, for example, he has to make up to 20 phone calls simply to confirm that a player could receive his county cap.
