Middlesex snap up Roland-Jones

Middlesex have signed young fast bowler Toby Roland-Jones on a full time contract.

Ex-England seamer Angus Fraser said: “He has a good, strong, high, simple action"

The 21-year-old represented Middlesex and Surrey Second XIs this season and led the Leeds/Bradford UCCE bowling attack as they won the MCC Universities championship title.

Roland-Jones performed consistently well against county opposition, taking 5-81 against Derbyshire in May.

Middlesex managing director of cricket Angus Fraser commented: "Toby made a positive impression during his limited appearances with Middlesex's Second XI in 2009.

“Last season he was the outstanding fast bowler in university cricket and comes from a club, Sunbury CC, which continues to provide Middlesex with talented cricketers.

“He has a good, strong, high, simple action and I believe he has the potential to become a very good bowler."
