Northants keep hold of trio
Alex Wakely, David Willey and Kyle Coetzer have committed their futures to Northamptonshire by signing contract extensions until the end of the 2014 season.
Middle-order batsman Wakely, 23, has often captained the side this summer in the absence of regular skipper Andrew Hall.
Along with left-handed all-rounder Willey and Scotland international Coetzer, he will now spend at least another two summers at Wantage Road, much to the delight of Northants chief executive David Smith.
“Securing these three players on new deals is a real boost for everyone at the club,” said Smith.
“The club is also actively looking to recruit two new players to add to the squad to assist us in being more competitive in white-ball cricket.”
David Ripley, recently appointed as Northants’ new permanent head coach, added: “This is fantastic news for the county as Alex, David and Kyle will play important roles for the club in all competitions over the coming years.
“We are bringing a core of young players through together and, surrounded by the right senior players, this news bodes well for Northants Cricket’s future.”
