Northamptonshire have handed new contracts to wicketkeeper-batsman David Murphy and spinning all-rounder Con de Lange.

Murphy, who played in 23 matches across all formats in 2012, has penned a two-year deal, while de Lange, an impressive performer in one-day cricket during his first season at Wantage Road, has signed on for a further 12 months.

David Murphy was a regular feature in Northamptonshire's LV= County Championship side in 2012 and will now spend two more years at Wantage Road. "I'm delighted to be staying," he stated

Head coach David Ripley said: “Con’s one-day form was very consistent and his professionalism around the squad is a valuable asset to us.

“David took his opportunity when it was presented to him earlier this season; he has shown great skill up to the stumps and a knack of building important partnerships down the order.”

Ripley added: “I'm delighted to be staying at the County Ground. A lot of the younger players are signing up and hopefully we can all progress in the coming years, where we all want to work hard and bring success to the county.”
