Monty Panesar has committed himself to Northamptonshire until the end of the 2010 season, after signing a new two-year deal with the club.
Not only does this allow the England spinner to carry on his career at the club at which he has played all his professional cricket, but has also ensured his availability to Northants for the inaugural season of the highly-anticipated English Premier League in 2010.
Panesar said: “I am really happy here at the club and especially enjoy working with David Capel and the coaching staff.
“There are exciting times ahead for English cricket with the Ashes tour next year and also for Northants Cricket and I am pleased to be a part of it.”
Chief executive Mark Tagg commented: “Monty is a key member of our plans going forward and we are all delighted he will be continuing his association with a club that he has been on the professional staff since 1999 and as a capped player from 2006.”
