White right for Northants
Northamptonshire have signed Australia international Cameron White for their Friends Life t20 campaign.
White, 28, has a wealth of experience for his country and has also appeared in a variety of Twenty20 tournaments around the world.
In England, the all-rounder has represented Somerset, for whom - in 2006 - he struck an incredible 70-ball unbeaten 141, which, at the time, was the format’s highest individual score.
It is that kind of decisive effort Steelbacks head coach David Capel is desperate to see from White in the coming season.
He said: “This is an important signing for Northants’ Friends Life t20 campaign, where Cameron will be able to add huge amounts of firepower to our middle-order batting.
“Cameron comes to the County Ground with a proven track record, both internationally and domestically in the shorter forms of the game and has the ability to find the boundaries, as seen by the fact he has scored t20 centuries.”
Northants chief executive David Smith said: “As a former captain of Australia in this format of the game and with Champions League and IPL experience, Cameron will bring a wealth of international experience to our t20 squad.
“This signing would not have been possible without the help of external benefactors, and we would like to place on record our appreciation to them once again.”
