Edwards exits Trent Bridge

Neil Edwards has today been released by Nottinghamshire. "I sincerely hope that he can find a contract elsewhere," said Mick Newell
Neil Edwards has become the third player to be released by Nottinghamshire this week.
Edwards struck 53 against Warwickshire this week in his 22nd first-class appearance for Notts since joining from Somerset in 2010.
However, he has largely flattered to deceive, averaging just 24 with the bat.
“Neil ended up playing half a season in each of the three years he has been here without really making himself an automatic pick,” explained Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell.
“Injuries disrupted him but he had several opportunities in the side and we always hoped he would tie down a place in the top order.
“I sincerely hope that he can find a contract elsewhere and continue his career in cricket.”
It was confirmed earlier this week that neither Scott Elstone or Karl Turner would be offered new contracts at Trent Bridge.
