Somerset hamstrung by Kirby absence
Somerset have suffered yet another injury blow with news that Steve Kirby will be sidelined for at least three weeks with a damaged hamstring.
The experienced paceman picked up the problem during Sunday’s Friends Life t20 defeat to Worcestershire at Taunton.
Kirby has already faced one lay-off this summer, having torn a quad muscle in April.
Somerset director of cricket Brian Rose told the club’s official website: “It is yet another bad injury in what is turning out to be a bizarre season for us in that respect.
“We have also heard that Adam Dibble will miss the rest of the season as a result of knee surgery, having already been under treatment for a side strain.
“With the Overton twins soon to be required by England Under-19s, our squad will again be stretched.”
