Marcus Trescothick rounded off an exceptional year by adding the NatWest PCA Player of the Year award to the PCA MVP.

Trescothick, last week confirmed MVP, held off competition from England captain Andrew Strauss plus Durham duo Ian Blackwell and Graham Onions to clinch the prize, which is voted for by all county players.

The 33-year-old scored 1,817 LV= County Championship runs at an average of 75 this season, as he helped guide Somerset to third-place in Division One.

Trescothick racked up eight championship hundreds and another in the Friends Provident Trophy en route to to 476 runs.

The left-hander starred on Twenty20 Cup finals day when he raced to a 27-ball half-century in Somerset’s seven-wicket semi-final victory over Kent at Edgbaston.

Trescothick, who is India preparing for Somerset's Twenty20 Champions League opener on Sunday, was not able to collect the award in person.

Leicestershire batsman James Taylor overcame strong competition, in the form of England stars Stuart Broad and Adil Rashid, to clinch the Young Player of the Year award.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a prolific season in which he scored 1,184 championship runs at an average of 66.

Taylor was one of Leicestershire’s stars in an otherwise disappointing season for the county, which saw them finish bottom of the Division Two.

The England Under-19 international showed composure to hit 207 not out against Surrey at the Brit Oval in July, one of three hundreds to add to six fifties during the campaign.

Another winner at the event, held in London’s Billingsgate, was Strauss, who picked up this year’s PCA Special Merit award.

Blackwell, Ed Joyce (Sussex), Craig Kieswetter (Somerset), James Foster (Essex), James Tredwell (Kent) and Steve Kirby (Gloucestershire) completed the line-up.
