Trescothick in for Champions League

Marcus Trescothick, who shone so brightly on Twenty20 Cup finals day, has chosen to take part in India
Marcus Trescothick has been named in Somerset’s final 15-man squad to take part in the Twenty20 Champions League in India next month.
The 33-year-old former England batsman is vice-captain to Justin Langer, who will lead the Twenty20 Cup runners-up against 2009 Indian Premier League winners Deccan Chargers and reigning Stanford 20/20 champions Trinidad & Tobago.
Trescothick’s availability means he is set to return to the sub-continent for the first time since having to leave England’s tour of India in 2006 due to a stress-related illness.
A Somerset statement read: “Marcus Trescothick is in the squad, as ways are sought to enable the former England opener to overcome the problems with travelling abroad to play cricket he has experienced as a result of his stress-related illness.”
The most unfamiliar name in the party is Jos Buttler, 18, in the squad as back-up wicketkeeper to Craig Kieswetter.
It also includes Wes Durston and Omari Banks, who have yet to be offered new contracts for next season.
The players to miss out, having been named in the preliminary squad of 20, are David Stiff, Michael Munday, Adam Dibble, Robin Lett and Steffan Jones.
Somerset, who are in Group A, play Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad on October 10, before meeting Trinidad in Bangalore two days later.
Should the Sabres get through this round a further two matches will be played in the League stage, which will be held between October 15-19 in Hyderabad.
Somerset 15-man squad: Justin Langer (capt), Craig Kieswetter (wkt), Jos Buttler (wkt), Marcus Trescothick, Zander de Bruyn, James Hildreth, Peter Trego, Arul Suppiah, Alfonso Thomas, Max Waller, Charl Willoughby, Wes Durston, Mark Turner, Omari Banks, Ben Phillips.
