Trego set for Bangladesh stint

Somerset all-rounder Peter Trego admits he is "looking forward to the challenge of playing cricket in Bangladesh" after agreeing to play for Abahani in the Dhaka Premier League, a 50-over competition
Somerset all-rounder Peter Trego is set to continue his globetrotting winter by playing domestic cricket in Bangladesh.
The 30-year-old was due to fly to the sub-continent today to represent Abahani in the Dhaka Premier League, a 50-over competition which runs until the end of January.
Immediately following the end of the domestic season, Trego helped Somerset reach the Champions League T20 semi-finals in India. He has subsequently twice been a runner-up, first for England in the Hong Kong Sixes and then for Mashonaland Eagles in Zimbabwe’s Stanbic Bank T20, in which he was player of the tournament.
Trego told Somerset’s official website: "I'm really looking forward to the challenge of playing cricket in Bangladesh and this is a great chance to gain more experience in another country on different pitches and generally have the opportunity to work towards improving my whole game in a real situation."
Somerset head coach Andy Hurry added: "We are obviously very pleased that Pete has got the opportunity to develop his skills in match situations in a competitive environment. When he returns, he will have a short break before joining up with the rest of the squad in our build-up for the pre-season training programme."
