Anyon seals Surrey loan switch
Surrey have bolstered their seam-bowling ranks with the signing of Warwickshire’s James Anyon on a month’s loan.
Surrey moved swiftly to cover the absence of South African pace bowler Andre Nel, who faces surgery on an elbow injury and will not play again this season.
Anyon’s 112 first-class wickets have come at a cost of almost 40 apiece, and he has played only two LV= County Championship games for Warwickshire this summer.
The 26-year-old is set to make his bow for Surrey second XI when they meet Yorkshire at Guildford CC tomorrow.
Gus Mackay, Surrey managing director of cricket, said: “After losing Andre, we felt the need to increase our bowling stocks at such an important part of the season.
“Having James will add some depth and experience to the attack which can only help us as we look to finish the season on a high.”
