Pietersen back in business

Kevin Pietersen prospers on the leg side during his comeback innings of 30 today. He faced 52 deliveries and hit two fours and two sixes
Kevin Pietersen marked his return to action with an encouraging 30 for Surrey in their three-day game against Cambridge MCCU at Fenner's.
Playing his first match since undergoing surgery to repair the hernia which brought his World Cup to a premature end in early March, the England batsman hit two fours and two sixes in his 52-ball innings.
He batted with notable assuredness before edging Zafar Ansari, a left-arm spinner who is on Surrey’s books, low to Craig Park at slip in the first over after lunch.
Pietersen, captaining Surrey in this game, was one of three wickets for 19-year-old Ansari as the visitors reached tea on day one on 218 for seven.
He will hope to spend more time at the crease in the second innings, knowing that Surrey’s LV= County Championship clash with Essex at Whitgift School next week offers his last chance of first-class cricket before England’s first npower Test of the summer against Sri Lanka at Lord’s starting on May 26.
