Surrey will become the Lions - their one-day nickname until 2006 - once more when the 2010 season gets under way
Surrey have announced they will play as Surrey Lions in one-day and Twenty20 cricket in 2010.
The county will revert back to their original limited-overs nickname after four seasons as the Brown Caps.
Cricket manager Chris Adams said: āI am hoping this will bring a bit of bite back to the team and give the players a positive identity which fits the direction I intend to take them.
āIām sure Lions teams of previous years hold many fond memories for Surrey fans and I look forward to our new look side adding to them in years to come.ā
Surrey, who won the National League and inaugural Twenty20 Cup under the Lions moniker in 2003 - their most recent one-day trophies - will adopt the name in the Friends Provident t20 and ECB 40 League this summer.
