Ryan Harris will play in three LV= County Championship games for Surrey before a decision is made on his long-term future
Surrey have announced the signing of Australian all-rounder Ryan Harris on a short-term deal.
The 29-year-old Queenslander will play in the club’s next three LV= County Championship matches, starting with the trip to Glamorgan on Saturday June 6.
His arrival as an overseas player spells the end of Grant Elliott’s time with Surrey.
Harris recently represented Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League and also made his ODI debut for Australia against South Africa in January.
Surrey’s professional cricket manager Chris Adams, who briefly captained Harris at Sussex last season, said: “We have a very taxing stretch of matches coming up and bringing someone like Ryan Harris into the squad will give everyone a boost.
“His pace, aggression and all round capabilities mean that he will be a welcome addition to our squad for the upcoming games.”
Harris added: “It is great to be joining up with Surrey as I’ve always loved playing cricket in England.
“With the Australian domestic season and the IPL, I have played a lot of cricket recently and am very keen to keep getting out there and showing people what I can do.”
