Surrey, who have won 10 of their 11 Clydesdale Bank 40 matches this year, are hoping for strong support in their Kia Oval semi-final

Tickets for Surrey’s Clydesdale Bank 40 semi-final on Sunday September 4 at the Kia Oval, starting at 1.45pm, will go on sale tomorrow afternoon.

The Lions, who secured home advantage in the last four with a 141-run demolition of Leicestershire at Grace Road yesterday, will learn their opponents by the end of the last round of group games next Monday.

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and just £1 for under-16s. Surrey members will be able to enter free of charge upon production of their membership card.

Surrey have taken Group B by storm, winning 10 of their 11 games with the other result a washout at Durham.

Surrey professional cricket manager Chris Adams said: “The brand of cricket that we are producing now is powerful, exciting and entertaining – a very watchable experience.

“It’s been a long time since Surrey have had a home semi-final. It’s a great achievement but the team are very aware and focused that the semi-final is not where they want to end up – they want to end up with the trophy at Lord’s.

“Our goal is to once more associate the name of Surrey County Cricket Club with winning trophies and being at big occasions.”

Surrey chairman Richard Thompson added: “Securing a home semi-final in the Clydesdale Bank 40 – having been unbeaten all season in this competition – is a great achievement for the team. With victories secured in such emphatic style, it gives cause for real optimism.

“The last time we hosted a domestic semi-final was in the 1997 Benson and Hedges Cup – so to end that 14-year wait is greatly satisfying.

“We are one game away from a Lord’s final and want as many Surrey fans as possible to come to the Kia Oval and support the team.

“With free entry to all of our members, we are all hopeful of an excellent crowd and a great atmosphere at what we think will be a game to remember.”
