Sussex batsman Carl Hopkinson has taken on an additional coaching role at the county with immediate effect.
Hopkinson, 28, who made his first-class debut for Sussex in 2002, will work alongside professional cricket manager Mark Robinson, cricket performance manager Keith Greenfield and club coach Mark Davis.
Hopkinson will pay particular attention to fielding duties, but will also move up and down the club's structure from the youth set-up.
He said: “Coaching is something that I enjoy on the same level as playing and when Robbo approached me mid-season about this, it was something that I wanted to grab with both hands. It's an area that I want to make a difference in.”
Robinson added: “Carl has worked the last few years with the Sussex academy and last winter as a fielding coach with the England Lions and England Under-19s. He has all the attributes to be an outstanding coach.”
