Small profit for Sussex

Hove underwent the first stage of an £8m redevelopment project at the end of a year that saw them make a small profit
Sussex have revealed they made a minor profit in the last financial year.
The club announced a surplus of £1,455 today, income having risen by 29% to a record £5.8million for the year ending October 31 2009.
That Sussex did not report a negative balance sheet owed much to their success on the field last summer, when they won the NatWest Pro40 and Twenty20 Cup, which earned them a place in the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 in India.
“The successes of the Sussex Sharks one-day side was a major factor in our achieving our impressive turnover figure,” said Sussex chairman Jim May.
“As expected, costs rose with this and we therefore regard the result as satisfactory in testing times for the economy, especially given reduced interest rates resulted in £286,000 less income against our cash balances than in the prior year.”
Sussex began work on an £8million redevelopment project at Hove over the winter, as well as spending £100,000 refurbishing the indoor school.
May added: “I am confident that with our players, under the management of Mark Robinson and the captaincy of Mike Yardy, and the club’s off-the-field activities being driven by Dave Brooks and his team, Sussex are well placed for the new season.”
