Will Adkin has been released by Sussex after failing to nail down a regular first-team berth at the PROBIZ County Ground.

The 22-year-old seamer was handed a two-year contract in 2010 after progressing through the youth and academy ranks, but has since found senior action hard to come by.

In all, Adkin featured in six first-class matches and three List A games, while also making two appearances in January’s Caribbean T20 tournament.

Mark Robinson, Sussex’s professional cricket manager, said: “Opportunities were limited last year for Will and seemed likely to be again next season. With that in mind we feel that it would be best for him to seek openings elsewhere.

“We would like to wish him lots of luck and thank him for all the hard work and dedication he has shown.”
