Sussex tie down Wernars
Kirk Wernars will stay with Sussex until the end of the 2014 season after signing a one-year contract extension at the PROBIZ County Ground.
The 21-year-old all-rounder made just seven first-team appearances in 2012, but scored heavily when captaining the club’s second XI.

Kirk Wernars believes his game "has come a very long way" since he joined Sussex in 2011. The 21-year-old all-rounder will now remain with the club for a further two seasons
“I am extremely happy to be signing an extension with Sussex,” said Wernars.
“Since joining the club in 2011 I feel my game has come a very long way, and I have grown as a cricketer.
“For the 2013 season I am hoping to be a good asset for the team both on and off the cricket field.”
Mark Robinson, Sussex’s professional cricket manager, believes there is much more to come from Wernars.
He added: “Kirk made good strides last season, especially with his bowling, and at his age he has a lot of promise to be a genuine all-rounder in all formats of the game.”
