England all-rounder Luke Wright has committed his future to Sussex by signing a new three-year contract with the county.
The 24-year-old from Grantham, who is now contracted at Hove until 2012, was a key player in the Sharks’ Twenty20 Cup and NatWest Pro40 double in 2009.
Wright also contributed 527 runs and 21 wickets in eight LV= County Championship matches, with three centuries, when international commitments allowed.
Wright has become a regular in England’s limited-overs sides in his time at Sussex, and could make his Test debut this winter after being named in the squad to face South Africa later this month.
Wright said: “The contract extension is exciting for me and I want to be a big part of a bright future for the club.
“I love playing for Sussex and the county have been great in helping me achieve my goal of playing for England. I look forward to winning more trophies with this remarkable club in years to come.”
Mark Robinson, Sussex professional cricket manager, added: “Luke is one of the most exciting young players in the country and we're delighted that he has committed to the club for the immediate future.”
Wright came through the ranks at Leicestershire before making his first-team debut in 2003. He was snapped up by Sussex for the following season.
An England Lions call-up arrived in 2006, and Wright made an instant impact on his full England debut, making 50 in the 2007 NatWest Series match against India at the Brit Oval.
