Warwickshire will continue with their policy of not recruiting overseas players for this season’s Friends Life t20, new director of cricket Dougie Brown has confirmed.

Warwickshire are not signing an overseas player for the FLt20 despite not making it out of the Midlands/Wales/West Group last year

The Bears have opted against bringing in players on lucrative short-term contracts to participate in the shortened version of the game.

Brown said: “I am 100 per cent behind that policy.

“It’s not just a question of cost. We feel there is another way to achieve success. We already have the players here to be competitive.

“The guys here have performed well in 40-over cricket in recent years and I am sure they can do the same in Twenty20.”

New Zealand spinner Jeetan Patel is the Bears’ overseas player this year and is available for the entire campaign.
