Carter calls time
Neil Carter has opted to retire from county cricket, thereby ending a hugely successful association with Warwickshire.
The veteran seam bowling all-rounder was twice released by the Edgbaston club following his initial arrival more than a decade ago, but re-signed on each occasion.
He enjoyed his best season in 2010, scooping the PCA Player of the Year award at the age of 35 having excelled across all formats.
A two-time LV= County Championship winner, in 2004 and 2012, Carter also appeared in four Lord’s finals and had the opportunity to end his Warwickshire career on a glorious note in this year’s Clydesdale Bank 40; ultimately, he was unable to strike what would have been the winning run from the last ball of the tournament.
The popular South African will now look to continue his career with Scotland.
