Warwickshire have announced wicketkeeper-batsman Tony Frost will retire from county cricket to rejoin the club’s groundstaff at the end of the season.
Frost initially retired at the end of 2006 but was persuaded by director of cricket Ashley Giles to return to the playing staff last season, following Tim Ambrose’s call-up to the England squad.
The 33-year-old enjoyed a prolific campaign, amassing 1,003 first-class runs, at an average of 83.56, with a top score of 242 not out.
However, Frost has struggled with the bat this season, although he did pick up his maiden first-class wicket - that of Sean Ervine at Hampshire in July.
Giles said: “Frosty has been a fantastic, hard-working servant of Warwickshire cricket over the years and we’ll be sad to see him go (again).”
