Chris Martin has been ruled out of New Zealand’s one-day international series in Bangladesh due to a persistent hamstring injury.
The 33-year-old seamer picked up the problem playing for Warwickshire in the LV County Championship and will be replaced by Michael Mason, who is currently on tour with New Zealand A in India.
New Zealand general manager Lindsay Crocker hopes Martin can return for the Test series with Bangladesh.
“Chris developed a hamstring injury during his time at Warwickshire,” said Crocker.
“While he was able to fully contribute to their most recent four-day match, we have come to the conclusion his longer term interests are best served by him cutting short his obligations at Warwickshire, returning home for full treatment and rehabilitation before hopefully being able to head to Bangladesh to take a full part in the Test series.”
