Eight Warwickshire players have been rewarded for their success this season with three-year contract extensions
England batsman Jonathan Trott is one of eight Warwickshire players to sign three-year contract extensions.
Trott’s second-innings century on Test debut was crucial to England retaining the Ashes and earned him an ECB incremental contract.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a prolific domestic season as the Bears won Division Two of the NatWest Pro40 and finished fifth in Division One of the LV= County Championship.
Warwickshire captain Ian Westwood, Darren Maddy, Chris Woakes, Naqaash Tahir, Richard Johnson, Boyd Rankin and Ateeq Javid have also committed until the end of the 2012 campaign.
Wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose, who last played for England in the fourth Test against West Indies last winter, has agreed a one-year extension.
“I am over the moon that so many have signed up for three years,” said director of cricket Ashley Giles.
“I don’t like messing around with too many contracts at the end of every season. This gives us a real chance to keep some continuity in the squad and build on what we are trying to achieve.”
The county’s one centrally contracted player, batsman Ian Bell, will discuss an extension on his return from holiday. He has one year left on his current deal.
